Dungeon

Dungeon, video installation, 2003-4

The video installation drew its name from the medieval underground chambers used to hold prisoners in severe conditions of limited light and space. The Installation, originally installed and exhibited in a deserted prison in Jerusalem, recreated (simulated) a prison floor plan as seen from underneath. The images depicted different cells and rooms of a women’s prison: an investigation room, long corridors and a bathroom. The work investigated the power of the Panopticon and the potency of visual occupation simultaneously with the impotency of ones societal position
